Achelous
Brief
Developed as a socially conscious action game, the objective was to engineer a high-speed traversal system within a submerged, future-earth setting. Serving as Product Lead and Scrum Master, the goal was to create a "race-against-time" loop where players gain energy by clearing plastic pollutants, effectively blending high-retention gameplay with poignant ecological themes.

The Process
Phase 1: Mechanic Prototyping & Speed Logic The process began with the technical implementation of the core "speed-gain" mechanic. Using C# within Unity, I architected a collision and energy system that rewards players for destroying plastic waste. This involved fine-tuning player controls and velocity physics to ensure a fluid, high-octane experience while navigating a complex underwater map.

Phase 2: Submerged World-Building & Asset Pipeline To establish the hauntingly beautiful atmosphere, I managed the full 3D pipeline for the robot protagonist and its environment. I focused on a "high-to-low poly" workflow in Blender to create optimized, stylized assets that maintain visual depth under real-time water shaders. This ensured the decimated oceanic ecosystem felt both expansive and technically performant.

Phase 3: UI/UX & Narrative Research The interface was designed to be both futuristic and functional, ensuring that vital telemetry—like speed and energy levels—was immediately readable during high-velocity play. I conducted research into environmental themes to ensure the UI icons and gameplay objectives effectively translated ecological data into meaningful, intuitive player goals.
Phase 4: Auditory Pacing & Scrum Management As Scrum Master, I coordinated the development pipeline using Agile methodologies to ensure feature delivery remained on schedule. Simultaneously, I led the sound design, composing a poignant, suspenseful soundtrack that adapts to the player’s speed. This auditory layering was essential in amplifying the tension as the player races against the ecosystem's collapse.
The Results
The final result is a polished, socially conscious adventure that demonstrates a comprehensive ability to lead technically demanding projects. By synchronizing C# systems, 3D art, and original sound design, the project achieved a high-retention gameplay loop that successfully balances environmental advocacy with compelling action mechanics.
